The election petition of 2013 will forever be remembered by Ghanaians and the world outside Ghana.
It was not only history that was made but it also an 8-month long tortourous battle for Ghanaians who were ‘presidentless’ for the first time after elections in the country’s history, though a president had been sworn in.
It is exactly four years ago [August 29, 2013] today, when then biggest opposition party, the New Patriotic Party,NPP, led by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia,then running mate,challenged the 2012 presidential election results that declared John Dramani Mahama as President,and took the matter to the highest court of the land, The Supreme Court.
Their argument was that there were evidences that the election had been rigged in favour of then candidate, John Mahama of the NDC
They therefore wanted the court to declare their candidate president to overturn the Electoral Commission’s earlier declaration.
