Scores of business owners in some parts of Accra are lamenting the unavailability of ECG prepaid credit is unduly taking a toll on their businesses.
Many power consumers in parts of the capital city have not been able to recharge their prepaid meters over the last few days due to network failure.
“We went out to look for credit but we were told that the system was down so we should go and come. That was three days ago; we went back yesterday and we were not successful and the situation is the same today,” one of the affected business operators told JoyBusiness.
Some of the customers said they have been queueing for days and no one is telling them anything.
“Is it that we are back to the load shedding exercise or there is actually something happening? Someone should explain it to us. Our things are getting spoiled in the fridges and the situation is terrible,” another frustrated customer said.
The credit situation is very bad when you get to their office they will tell you network issues and you never long when the network will be better so you have to sit and wait for long hours.
According to some business owners, the situation is bad especially during the weekend when they cannot meet orders from their customers.
Meanwhile, Principal PRO of ECG for Accra West, Eric Asante says they are working to have the issue resolved by close of business Tuesday.
“At a particular point in time when everyone tries to access units, there is a jam but when it eases and there are not many people accessing it.
“There is the need to get a bigger and better server so they can access credit whatever time they want. We accept the fact that this is not right, ECG is supposed to get customers credit at whatever time they want it,” he said.
Mr Asante said the company is trying to get a frequency from the National Communication Authority (NCA) so the issue of jam is addressed.
