A baptism of fire as Metropolitan Sports Academy hit Destiny FC for 7 in pre-season friendly
The Teshie Mats Park was the venue as Metropolitan Sports Academy proved their mettle once again with a dominant 7-0 win over Kasoa based second division side Destiny FC in a pre-season friendly in preparation for the new Division 3 League campaign.
The game started with Destiny FC made their intentions known by creating some decent chances which couldn’t end up in the back of the twine as Metropolitan Academy’s backline stood resolute to thwart any goal bound effort.
Unperturbed by Destiny FC’s attacking onslaught Metropolitan Academy remained focused to get the results on the day and against the run of play Iddrisu Mohammed drew first blood for the hosts as he tapped home Francis Offei’s well timed pass into the twine following an excellent display by Offei who sent his opponent on a hot dog errand.
Mohammed Iddrisu put his side 2 goals up before the half time break from the penalty spot leaving the goalkeeper rooted to his spot.
Cruising to a 1-0 in the 13th minute Metropolitan could have buried their opponents under an avalanche of goals as they wasted three key golden opportunities to go four goals up before Justin Danso skied his penalty kick half way through the first interval as he was presented with a golden opportunity to put his side 2-0 up .
The second half was a one way traffic as Metropolitan Academy pushed more men behind the ball for extra goals to cushion their lead.
Francis Offei tripled the hosts lead in the 46th minute as he spooned the ball over his marker before slamming the ball home from close range after he was set up by Iddrisu Mohammed via a lovely left footed tailor measured cross.
The fourth goal of the game arrived 2 minutes later within a flash as Otibu Darko the chief orchestrator played a sweet pass to Iddrisu Mohammed who calmly lobbed the ball over the helpless Destiny FC goalie to put Metropolitan Academy 4-0 up as well as putting the game beyond the reach of their opponents. It was a delectable goal by Fuseini who bagged a hattrick.
Destiny FC handicapped during the course of the game were virtually exhausted as a result of not coming along with substitutes and it showed in their play with their legs out there.
Francis Offei scored his second goal of the game as he latched on to cheap give away pass from the opposition’s goalie before coolly tapping the ball home for the fifth goal of the game as Metropolitan went 5-0 up.
As if that wasn’t enough Iddrisu Mohammed scored two extra goals to shore his side’s goal tally to 7.
Metropolitan are undefeated in their last three pre-season friendly games scoring 17 and shopping in 8 goals as they’re gear up for the new football season which kicks off in some weeks time.
