In attendance were tourists and people from the diaspora who are in town to partake in the festival.
Hooting at Hunger
Homowo which means “hooting at hunger” is celebrated by the Ga to signify a time in their history when they faced a great famine and ultimately came out of it.
A spokesperson for the Ga Mantse, Nii Kwardey Ntreh told the media that although Homowo is a time to rejoice and hoot at hunger, people were adorned in red attires to mourn their ancestors who died as a result of the hunger.
He explained that the festival was also a time for families to come together to settle any differences among them.
