Ghana’s Black Stars coach, Otto Addo presented his technical report yesterday Wednesday, November 27 after meeting the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to discuss his future on the heels of Ghana’s failed 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign that ended with the senior national team finishing bottom of Group F with 3 points accompanied by 3 loses and 3 draws culminating in the Black Stars failing to qualify for the continental showpiece for the first time in two decades.
However, Otto Addo has called on the GFA to strengthen his backroom staff and as the such the FA will bring in a technical advisor to assist him.
Otto Addo was appointed in March 2024 for a second stint following Ghana’s failed 2023 AFCON campaign in Ivory Coast. The entire technical team, led by Chris Houghton, was fired from his post , with Addo brought in for another term. However, he has not impressed as expected.
Addo got off to a great start, winning back-to-back games in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Mali and Central Africa Republic , breathing life into Ghana’s hopes of qualifying for the tournament.
He received backing from several important football figures, including former Ghana internationals Laryea Kingston and Ibrahim Tanko, both now coaches
Despite his set backs in the dug out of the Black Stars ,the FA is willing to give him another opportunity . They expect him to maintain the lead in the World Cup qualifiers and ensure Ghana qualifies for the 2026 tournament in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Otto Addo penned a three-year contract with an option for an additional two years
