Give peace a chance – Titus-Glover urges Teshie residents

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, has called for peace amidst ongoing disturbances in the Teshie township.

In an unexpected turn of events during a tour by the minister to the various traditional councils in Accra on Monday, the minister, upon arriving at the Teshie Traditional Council, was briefed on ongoing disturbances that had prevented traditional council members from receiving him and some gifts he took along.

In an interview with the media, Titus-Glover assured the public that he would take steps to address the issues once he received security briefings while urging the people to remain calm and act peacefully.

“When we got to the grounds, I was told that there had been some shooting incidents in town. And for security reasons, we decided to come to the assembly to come and do the presentations here. Because the people are not coming out to come and receive the items for fear of their lives.

“So I am here to get a full brief from the regional commander of what has happened. But so far we haven’t heard anything untoward as to injuries or loss of lives or something.

“But my prayer is that nothing like that happens. I have pleaded with the traditional council and the other groups to foster unity. But we will continue to engage. We will continue to talk to them and our prayer is that they will put a stop to these things because it has really retarded the development of Teshie.

“I want to use this medium on behalf of the president and the vice president to appeal to my people in Teshie, let’s give peace a chance.”
