JOSHUA TETTEH ON THE DOUBLE AS A METROPOLITAN SPORTS ACADEMY TRASH GERTRAND FC IN PRE-SEASON ENCOUNTER
Metropolitan Sports Academy (MSA) put on a commanding display with an emphatic 5-1victory over Gertrand FC in a pre-season friendly match held at the Teshie Mats Park yesterday Thursday, October 24 . The one-sided encounter showcased MSA’s final third prowess and defensive solidity.
MSA opened the scoring in the 19 th minute through skipper Joshua Tetteh who lobbed the ball over the goalkeeper following an excellent play by Otsibu Darko who found Joshua with a tailor measured pass after peeling past his opponent with ease
The lead didn’t last long as Gertrand FC restored parity through their 14 shirted player who fired home with his left foot into the yawning net after the goalkeeper of MSA failed missed a first time save from a resulting free kick it was a nightmare for the goalie who misjudged the cross after it took an awkward bounce in his territory.
Within a flash Joshua Tetteh restored MSA’s lead in the 21 st minute with a super half turn finish inside Gatrand FC’S goal his pirouetting quick strike went underneath the goalkeeper who found it difficult to make a solid save at his near post.
Half way through the first half MSA hit the peak in grand style by stretching their lead to 3-1 in the 38 th minute through Baba Salis who timed his run to perfection to avoid an offside before storming past his marker and fired home a powerful strike which beat the goalkeeper at his near post with velocity it was a typical striker’s finish by Salis who was back in among the goals after suffering a goal drought in previous games .
MSA were in wonder land on the stroke of halftime as Philemon quadrupled the lead to put the hosts 4-1 up before the half time interval skipper Joshua Tetteh turned from scored to provider as his intelligent fake dummy was chanced upon by Philemon who drove home a ferocious strike into the twine giving the goalkeeper no chance to produce a save.
In the second interval , Gertrand FC’s coach effected some substitutions in an attempt to stage a comeback however MSA’s goalie was resolute in between the goalposts to thwart Gertrand FC’s final third onslaught.
Substitute Toffic despite being a pale shadow of himself after coming on in the second half redeemed his image by scoring a stupendous fifth goal to break his long goal duck as well as putting MSA 5-1 up before the referee blew his whistle to bring friendly hostilities to an end.
