Toyota Ghana unveils new cars to boost market dominance

Toyota Ghana Limited, in a strategic move to continue providing top-tier vehicles, has launched three new models as the latest additions to Toyota vehicles on the market.

These are the Toyota Vitz, Toyota Urban Cruiser, and Toyota Land Cruiser 250 Prado.

Unveiling the vehicles at its Accra Branch, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Toyota Ghana Limited, Kohji Yanaka in a sideline interview with the media highlighted the timeliness of the introduction of the new models of cars to serve the needs of customers.

He indicated that the new models introduced on the market will help attract more customers and further expand its market share in the automotive industry.

“We just launched the all-new generation of Prado which is one of our flagship models. The Vitz is one of our newest A-segment entry car models and historically Toyota has not been very strong in this Ghanaian market. So with this model and the SUV segment together with our Urban Cruiser, we intend to maintain our share, expand our share and also cut through historically not-too-strong passenger segment as well.

“Toyota has been the number one brand for 8 years consecutive with around 30% market share. 30% of the market compared in the world is a very high market share and together with Nissan, we dominate more than half of the market. Together with these three new models, we expect to expand to even more. 38-40%, that is fair enough. If things change I think this year it might be possible,” Kohji Yanaka said.

Head of Sales Operations at Toyota Ghana Limited, Andrew Lamptey, on his part stressed that customers who purchase the new models of vehicles unveiled will have value for money.

He also added that special arrangements will be made for anyone who wants to purchase the Toyota new models on an instalment payment basis.

“Affordability is relative. Unfortunately this year we have seen some sharp depreciation of the Cedi. This is a fact. So it kind of affects the price regularly. But for the work this vehicle does for you, it is indeed money worth spending. It may come at a price but we believe that the price and the value that these cars give you, it is worth it.

“At this event, we brought in our financial partners who are more than ready to support such payment plans. So you can have between one year or six months…up to even 5 years repayment plan. So you can just come, we will sit down, invite our financial partners and we can work out something for you,” he stated.

The All-New Toyota Vitz is designed to offer affordability and low running costs while combining stylish design with practical features for modern consumers. Ideal for new entrants, young professionals, and urban commercial drivers, this A-segment passenger vehicle prioritizes comfort, safety, and fuel efficiency. Despite its compact design, the Vitz boasts a surprisingly spacious 295L cargo space. It also includes smart connectivity options such as Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, USB, and Voice Controls.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser is crafted for those who crave exploration without sacrificing functionality. This C-segment crossover SUV features a robust design and advanced technology, including a 3-spoke urethane steering wheel, a 4.2-inch TFT Multi-Informational Display, and a touchscreen display audio system with USB, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto connectivity. Its comprehensive safety features encompass airbags, parking radar, a smart entry system, an engine immobilizer, a rearview camera, LED headlights, and high-mounted brake lights. The Urban Cruiser offers superior handling and front-wheel drive (FWD) capability, making it adept at navigating various terrains.

The new Toyota Land Cruiser 250 Prado epitomizes luxury, power, and performance in a large SUV. This model is equipped with advanced features such as electronic power steering, dual-zone automatic front and rear air conditioning, regulated driver and passenger seat heaters, a UV-cut sun and moon roof, leather seat covers, and an illuminated entry system.

It provides seamless USB and HDMI connectivity, a 12.3-inch touchscreen navigation system, and audio, telephone, and voice recognition steering switches. Safety is paramount, with a longer wheelbase for enhanced stability, jam-protected power windows, an immobilizer, and power door locks. The Prado’s 110L diesel tank ensures longer, uninterrupted journeys.
